Safety Features
There are many aspects to safety with a table saw -- maybe the primary one being that most accidents happen with pieces of wood shorter than seven inches long that get out of control.
Later on you will see many home made or commercial jigs that improve both accuracy and safety, but for the moment we should take a look at the most neglected safety devices that come with your table -- the blade guard and the splitter.
I know that many of you simply throw the guard away because it bothers you but you should think twice about that sliver of metal called the splitter that you often just think holds up the guard. In this saw, these two functions are separate because I have a floating guard. That actually makes it easier to really explain the two individually.
