We took our TV cameras out to look at some tree limbs that should be trimmed back to protect telephone, cable or electrical wires from extra stress with the weight of winter snow and ice.
With or without tree problems, you should take a look outside at all the wires attached to your house. Each one should have a "carrier cable" that is securely attached on both ends. Then the working wire is simply looped onto the carrier. If the carrier cable breaks loose you may not know it because things can still work, but eventually all the stress on the telephone or TV wires, or even the power lines, will break something loose and you will loose services. Make a quick inspection of all these wires and the trees around them just before each winter.
