Weather Restrictions: Silicone Caulking / Sealant

Connect to your favourite weather forecaster and look for the following conditions:

 

Category: Sealants (Caulking)     Product: Silicone Caulking / Sealant

Temperature Limitations: Above +5 C (+40 F) and below +27 C (+80 F)

Rain Limitations: Apply to a clean, dry surface - no rain for 30 minutes

Wind Limitations:  n/a

Humidity Limitations: Low humidity slows curing

Continuous Conditions: No freezing for 24 hours

 

Comments: Most pure silicone caulkings do not stick well to masonry and cannot be painted -- although special products are made specifically for masonry and some specifically for painting.  If humidity is below 30% RH, mist fresh silicone to help create a skin and avoid dust collection.
