John in Aurora, Ontario has to delay work on his basement renovation and wants to know how he can store 10 sheets of drywall without having it warp.
Good question, because especially if there is much moisture in that basement stacked drywall can take on some permanent curves. If you simply sit it flat on a couple of boards, it will eventually sag on each end and between the boards. If you simply lean it up against the wall, it will curve like the paper backed books on the bookshelf.
Put a piece of plywood on the floor to protect the drywall edges from the concrete. Then put a piece of 3/4 inch plywood leaning slightly against the wall, leaning enough that it stay well put, but as vertical as possible. The plywood will not sag with time and moisture, like drywall or pressboard. Now you can stack your plywood up on edge leaning fully against this plywood support.
