Preventing graffiti damage on walls.

Graffiti is a major problem primarily for cities and schools, but even some homeowners have to deal with passing artists. There are now several graffiti removers on the market, but here we looked at a new graffiti inhibitor from a company called Wearlon.

This is a transparent coating that simply doesn't allow paint to stick well; so any paint can be scrubbed or power-washed right off. It works for both concrete and wood, although I have hesitations about using it for brick as I really don't like anything that slows down the evaporation of water from brick. (In fact the Canadian Historical Society doesn't recommend even water repellents on old brick as it may contribute to spalling.) But when it comes to concrete, where it is so difficult to get the paint out of all those cracks, this Wearlon stuff does a great job.

It is called Wearlon Easy Clean Anti-Graffiti Top Coat.
